This is a new book by Elena Filippova titled “Russian Matryoshka” While the introductory text is a little rough, the picture section is stunning. Each art doll is allocated a full color photograph, and each photo is titled simply with the artist’s last name.  Printed on high-quality woven linen paper. Large format, hard bound, laminated book jacket. 108 pages. Moscow, 1995.

This is a small format book with photographs of many unusual historical matryoshki, including the early period as well as the Soviet period.  The back of the book contains translations of the photo captions in German, French and English.
 
This is a rare book and is one of the few books available that feature early examples of nesting dolls.
 
The cover of the book is tan and has a gold stamped doll face in a sunburst on the front.  The book originally had a green dust cover with translations of the word “Matryoshka” in different languages circling a Matryoshka doll.

Russian hard cover “Folk handy crafts ” photo book in Russian language that will tell you about 23 different traditional centers of folk  arts and crafts where for several centuries generations of Russian artists making wooden nesting dolls, toys, lacquered boxes, porcelain and clay souvenirs, metal trays, costumes and more. This book has a Russian map with different art regions. A lot of great photos – 50 pages. Very good material for collectors.

RA25. Russian Nesting Dolls Book – Pam Cannon:
 
This spiral bound book is written by Pam Cannon (Author and Collector). It tells the history of the dolls, their construction, different qualities, and how they reflect the culture, customs and social events in our lives. It details the stories and legends of 42 different nesting dolls along with full colour pictures. Size 81/2″ X 11″. (20 double-sided pages – therefore 40 pages of print and full colour photos.)
 

RA30. Russian Matryoshka 50 pc Holiday art book:

Russian limited edition art book signed by the author Kononov about 50 piece Matryoshka nesting doll set with design of Russian traditional holidays and festivity, including stories about holidays, folk songs and proverbs (in Russian).
The seller was told that less then 200 copies were made for presentation of the 50 nest doll. The book is 28 pages, all in Russian language but great to have if you are collecting nesting dolls.


RA31. Coca Cola Nesting Doll Brochure:
Brochure featuring a very valuable Coca-Cola nesting doll.
 
The 1996 Summer Olympics, held in Atlanta, Georgia, inspired the exhibition “The Olympic Salute to Folk Art.” The Coca-Cola Company, whose corporate headquarters are in Atlanta, sponsored and hosted the exhibit. Artists from 54 countries used the same canvas; the familiar Coke bottle. They called upon their own folk art traditions and materials to create a fascinating variety of works. A selection of the bottles was recreated in limited editions of 2,500 pieces. The nesting doll now sells for around $500.

The size is 6″ x 9″, 160 pages with black and white photos and line art pages with prices. Mild yellowing, great reference for the collector.
 

RC01. Nesting Doll Video: From Russia With Love:
The only known specialty video about the Russian Nesting Doll. The (VHS) tape is new, produced in 1995 and is approx. 45 minutes long (in English). Shows traditional Nesting Dolls from Russia & what regions they come from. It also shows Art-Dolls, from the early 1990’s when the USSR fell & a new Democratic Nation emerged. This was the first time the artists of the new Russia could put their true feelings & thoughts into the paintings of the Nesting Doll.
