The Semenov village is located in the Nizhni Novgorod region (formerly Gorky region) of Russia, northeast of Moscow.
Dolls are painted with oil paints and India ink. Dolls have a large face, black hair parted in the middle, two dots for nose, pink cheeks, holding large flowers (usually poppies). Distinctive swirl “fingerprint” patterns stamped with rolled paper.
